Zela London a fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine backed by Rafael Nadal, Cristiano Ronaldo and Enrique Iglesias

Located in the Strand, Zela London is a short walk from Temple Tube Station and a short stroll away from major London attractions like Trafalgar Square and the Houses of Parliament. Zela London offers a fusion of traditional Japanese techniques and Mediterranean cuisine located at the ME Hotel on the strand. Zela London was born by business partners Abel Matutes Prats and Manuel Campos Guallar. Backed by celebrity investors Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Nadal, Enrique Iglesias and NBA star Pau Gasol. Zela London is the go to place for great food, fantastic hospitality and memorable entertainment. Zela London has another location in Ibiza so opening in London created the Ibiza vibe in the heart of the capital. Zela London restaurant and cocktail bar offers traditional Japanese flair using an original fusion of the best Mediterranean flavours and traditions.

The menu is nostalgic of fresh fish and seafood from the Mediterranean, with raw dishes including various tatakis, tartares, sushi and sashimi.  Abel Matutes Prats said the two celebrity sport-men backers had been particularly involved in the menu, due to their lifestyle and the love of healthy food. Some hot picks on the menu – nigiris of butterfish with white truffle, tuna tartar or the Usuzukuri of Toro pa amb Tomàquet, Tatakis and oxtail Gyozas. One of the most talked about signature dishes is the luxurious Wagyu beef that is slow-cooked for 48 hours.

My Zela London experience

Zela London is like stepping into a jetset style tropical oasis, exotic and vibrant with a Mediterranean flare. Spanish style tiles, beautiful greenery drape the large arched windows, and bamboo furniture creates that al fresco feel. The open planned kitchen gives you a glimpse of the masterpiece menu creations. A fully stocked bar would be the envy of any cocktail maker. Displayed across the cocktail bar are the finest ingredients to create the best Bloody Mary in town. Rich soft teal sofas with scatter cushions in shades of green and blue perfectly placed in the arch of the beautiful windows ensure a true tropical escape.

A perfectly placed DJ plays a wonderful collection of both upbeat and chilled music. Live musical entertainment provided courtesy of a breath-taking singer who entertained us with classics and contemporary songs. Zela London is in the perfect location, surrounded by Iconic attractions for a memorable stay-cation or a worldwide traveller.

Upon arrival I walked through the doors and was instantly taken on my very own Mediterranean experience in an exotic oasis setting. Front of house lays a beautiful open glass fireplace stylish and contemporary. A wonderful touch was the wine and champagne displays near the entrance. Zela London is like stepping into a beach house with bamboo chairs, wooden tables, vibrant green plants, totally charming. Zela London provides a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere so would be an ideal place for group dining, lunch or dinner, date night or dining with friends.

Once seated the host assisted us with the brunch menu choices, and explained them all in detail, excited to try we got stuck in, they all sounded delicious. The special feature to the Zela London Brunch is bottomless Bellini or Prosecco; we decided to start with Prosecco and switch between Prosecco and Bellini, true decadence!

The Zela Brunch offers starters to share, homemade vegetarian gyozas and a sushi Omakase selection, so tasty. Our main of charcoaled salmon with crispy skin and pumpkin was delicious, second choice was Wagyu teriyaki 48h tender and full of flavour. Zela Brunch additional options, edamame with Spanish salmorejo, sweet miso marinated eggplant, avocado, mango and tofu tartar. Chicken satay skewers with onigiris and soba noodles with tempura baby vegetables, sure to take your taste buds on a journey to food decadence. The dessert menu was exquisite and was the favourite part of the Zela Brunch experience, we chose the mousse selection of Strawberry, Mango, Dulce de leche, with ice cream, it was artistically presented, it was presented with an ice mist, which gave a certain amount of mystic…the perfect end to an amazing Zela London Brunch experience.

Conclusion

Zela Brunch is now my favourite choice for a truly Mediterranean and Japanese fusion brunch experience. The food was delicious and service impeccable, offering a fantastic brunch selection. Zela London Brunch offers a great end to a busy week to relax on a Sunday with family or friends.
