Gaucho Charlotte Street – linger over dinner and enjoy the atmospheric buzz

Gaucho story

Gaucho believes that every guest should experience a little bit of Argentine life! It’s food; it’s wine, its culture and most importantly, the passion of the people.

Charlotte Street Gaucho

Designer furnishings and cowhide fabrics is the decor for the brand we know and love called ‘Gaucho’ the best Argentine food and wine in London. Gaucho was one of the first to lead the way in high end steak dining. In the heart of chic Fitzrovia media land lays a contemporary dining space, first glance it looks like a glamorous penthouse black and white with clear white lighting. The private modern boutique dinning space is the first thing you see as you step through the glass doors to the restaurant, perfect for a intimate gathering or a corporate event.

Upon arrival you are taken down grand winding staircase to the dining area hidden away from the bustle of life, various dining options are available from intimate booths, to a table for two or more, some tables have a view of the kitchen for guests that want a more personal touch. We were introduced to our host for the night and she proceeded to talk through the various options available on the a la carte menu. My mouth watered.

The host then appeared with a wooden board with various cuts of steak and explained what each cut was and offered her recommendation. We was served warm cheese flavoured rolls, with a sea salt, cracked pepper and tasty oil herb dressing perfect to open up the palate. We choose the following, sharing starters Empanadas Humita: Sweet corn, provolone and chive. Sun dried tomato and mozzarella: Parmesan, Emmental and basil and their Seafood Sampler, soft shell crab & chimi slaw, Tuna cerviche and scallops. Cooked perfectly. Wine pairing for our starter was Seleccion-G 2017 Torrontes this was one of the first wines commissioned from a winery in Argentina, floral, aromatic, peachy some lychee notes-perfect!

The host recommended cocktails whilst waiting for our main course; pink drink, so pretty and you guessed-pink in colour, classic Zombie, this came out with a passion fruit on top in flames great party trick! The last cocktail was called smoking gun infused with pineapple a bit of the exotic.

The mains were; Tira De Ancho spiral cut, slow grilled steak, which was marinated for 48 hours with chimichurri, literally melted in my mouth and full of flavour. My partner chose Spatchcock Chicken he was impressed judging by his smiles! Sides; Spinach with garlic and lemon, Mashed Potatoes with truffle butter and chunky chips very tasty and hearty.

By this point I wondered how and earth I would be able to try the dessert! I was full to the brim! We were recommended the dulche de leche cheesecake it was amazing! Thick with sweet notes and Chocolate Mousse with blue berry light and airy texture, glad we made a little space for desserts a real treat.

Charlotte Street Specialities; Private Tasting Room, Private Dining, Balearic Brunch, Master classes, Gaucho Film Club and Lounge Bar.

My conclusion

Very professional service, vibrant atmosphere, the service was impeccable our host was very attentive. The perfect date night location or to gather with friends and family. If you want to impress your clients- perfect for business lunches or dinner. Overall Gaucho is a perfect place to go and enjoy good food and feel like a VIP. Would I come back, most definitely.
