We chose our nibbles and starters: Flatbread & dips Basil pesto, shrimp cocktail, roasted cherry tomato, me and my guest were fighting to dip first, Succulent pan-fried scallop, Pickled cucumber, lime mayo, croutons, melt in your mouth. Heritage Beetroot Salad, Lamb’s leaf, goat’s cheese mousse, honey & orange dressing, tasty. The mains: Whole Poussin Green Tabasco & coriander butter marinade, mixed leaf & vegetable salad, seasoned and tender, Meatless Burger, Plant-based patty, vegan ‘brioche’ bun, sriracha mayonnaise, tomato, iceberg, sesame pickle, fries, vegan and vegetarian friendly yummy. The cocktails were beautiful in design and delicious.

Connaught village offers so much for a truly luxurious and unique shopping experience. I was very excited to be invited for a second time to dine at Casa Malevo, with a new concept and menu. The menu features traditional Cocina Argentina dishes along with dishes that would excite the vegetarian and vegan audience.

Tucked away behind Georgian squares and a short walk from Marble Arch and a stone’s throw from Paddington is luxurious Connaught Village. An exclusive shopping and lifestyle location, the perfect mix of residential and independent, specialist and designer boutiques. Connaught Village is a place to escape for a peaceful setting to shop without fuss and dine with friends and loved ones. The native Londoner or International traveller, if you want to experience the quality and get away from the noise of London, Connaught Village this is a fantastic choice.

Dining at Casa Malevo

Casa Malevo is a rustic Argentinean restaurant located in the heart of Connaught Village, Central London. Casa Malevo offers Cocina Argentina, serving popular dishes from the different regions of the country offering an opportunity to experience dining the Argentina way. The dishes are freshly prepared using only the best products and are cooked on the premises. The entire wine list is from Argentina, with the majority available by 375ml carafe, allowing guests to sample different wines throughout their meal.

Greeted by the owner, Roberto Tavoloni who showed us to our table and explained the story behind Casa Malevo. Roberto then introduced us to the host for the night that made recommendations for food and wine. We had a busy week so I was looking forward to relaxing at one of the most talked-about Argentina restaurants in London.

Casa Melevo has a new head Chef José Cacciavillani and he has created a very special menu. José Cacciavillani has done Casa Melevo proud fusing his native Argentinian cuisine with techniques and flavours from the Med and Asia. José Cacciavillani worked with the Michelin Star Chef Michel Bras, the Roca brothers, and Pratap Chahal, the latter being his biggest influence in the kitchen. He also opened the restaurants of renowned wineries in Mendoza (Argentina) such as Terrazas de Los Andes, Cheval des Andes and Susana Balbo. He started cooking at eight years of age, under the tutelage of his mother Julia.

We were served the most delicious Sour-bread with olives, we had the option of beef butter or vegan butter we decided to try vegan butter it was delicious! We chose a House Aperitif Campari, shaken with fresh lime, lemon, orange and sprite, refreshing and light. We chose our starters; Empanadas Beef, caramelized onions and eggs, Morcilla and green apple, Roasted vegetables and mozzarella, this was truly heavenly.

To accompany the main we were recommended white wine Torrontes La Nubes, Cafayate Salta I must add it’s Vegan, it was smooth fruity and light and worked really well with the steak. For our main courses, we chose Vegan dumplings – wild onion puree, mushrooms and wild garlic oil – very tasty! Bife Ancho 300gr Ribeye steak, the steak was perfect! The side choices were all vegan and they were delicious; Oyster mushrooms, Vegan, Chips Vegan and Hispi Cabbage – vegan crème Fraiche and crispy onions. We just had a room for my favourite course, dessert! Red Fruit Trilogy Vanilla Ice Cream, Strawberry sorbet, red sponge and strawberries. Deconstructed lemon tart, food heaven!

Casa Malevo is a restaurant you will not want to leave, time just passes by. As we dined there was a steady trickle of guests coming and going and most of them looked like regulars. The décor is warm and inviting, exposed bricks, red chairs and wooden tables, evocative pictures adorned the walls. To end our very relaxed Argentinian experience Alberto joined us at our table and we shared a full-bodied dessert wine, Chin-chin! The Argentina way.

Casa Malevo has a Private Room on the lower floor of the main restaurant an intimate space inspired by old sophisticated Estancias dining rooms and holds seating parties up to 12 people. This is a perfect place for an intimate family gathering, a Christmas team dinner or a wedding or baby shower.

Conclusion

Casa Malevo was real authentic Argentina cuisine, rustic and warm with a great atmosphere, attentive and knowledgeable hosts and food cooked to perfection. Casa Malevo is opened for lunch and dinner Monday to Sunday so a perfect destination after some exhausting but fun retail therapy. The warmth is felt from the moment you enter and will bring you back for more.

We decided to take the car so we could take in the idyllic scenery on our trip to Champneys Tring. Driving through the twists and turns of country lanes we arrived at the idyllic Champneys Tring the Downton-esque driveway was the perfect movie scene. I could feel the weight of the week dropping off me. We were warmly greeted upon arrival, they were expecting us! The allocated room was simple offering countryside charm with a modern twist, all rooms include complimentary bottles of water and Champneys bath products. In the room were the famous white bathrobes and flip flops, we didn’t hesitate to get undressed put on our bathing suits to sit back, relax and enjoy the Buyagift spa experience. Champneys have their own range of spa treatments products along with other well known brands, so offer treatments to suit all needs. The spa offer a fantastic menu of spa treatments to detox, de-stress and invigorate. The treatments are designed to target wellbeing concerns, muscle pain, stress relief, relaxation or balance. The spa also offers a variety of spa maintenance treatments such as gel manicures and pedicures and many more.

The Spa Experience

The Spa offers many options with an atmosphere that commands you to relax, de-stress and be prepared to be rejuvenated. We helped ourselves to a glass of iced lemon infused water, perfect to prepare our selves body for our treatments and hydration. The spa facilities include hydropool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room. There was a relaxation room, with a strict no noise policy and a ban on phones or electronic devices, the perfect place to detox from life and it’s noise. The room was filled with perfectly positioned water beds with blankets, I tried to read but my body naturally fell into a tranquil relaxing sleep. In the corner of the room is a Jacuzzi with lights surrounding that changed colour and the cutest hanging hammock style chairs. We reluctantly left the relaxation room. We washed down using the powerful shower and headed to the sauna and steam rooms. My favourite feature was a large hydrotherapy pool, with the most romantic waterfall feature total heaven on earth. We tried all the features of the spa, it was such a therapeutic experience.

The Spa Treatments

The spa therapist was friendly and very knowledgable, the chosen treatments were; Champneys full body exfoliation and relaxing facial. The full body scrub was invigorating and left me feeling renewed. The therapist treated me to the most heavenly foot massage to help stimulate the detox process. The second treatment was a personalised relaxing facial. The therapist was asked questions to find out what type of skin regime was followed. The facial was a combination of cleansing, toning and moisturising whilst been extremely relaxing. The therapist finished with a head massage the experience was heavenly. Following the treatments we felt rejuvenated, detoxed and ready to experience what the night had in store.

Champneys Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch

We were greeted by the host for the night and given recommendations for food and wine. We decided to order a bottle of Prosecco and review a crafted menu using the finest locally sourced produce. We had worked up an appetite during the day, so were eager to order.

We were served customary bread with balsamic vinegar and oil (also offering Gluten Free options) while we decided on our food selection. We chose our starters; Sweetcorn and parsnip soup, light and flavoursome. Mains; Lamb Shank with creamed mashed potatoes and sweet potato wedges the lamb literally melted of the bone and was seasoned to perfection. We found space for dessert Blueberry Pavlova, sweet and delicate. Roasted Pear with toasted pine nuts and maple glaze the courses had all the right textures and flavours for an enjoyable dinning experience. The next morning we were served with a hearty breakfast with so much choice, fruits, yoghurt, full English, oats, fresh juice the list was endless. We decided to use the spa facilities one last time and take a stroll around the beautiful grounds. We worked up an appetite and were treated to a nutritional hot and cold buffet lunch before our sad departure.

The conclusion

We Painted the Town Coral with Sparkling Afternoon Tea

The afternoon tea at The Coral Room is sophisticated elegance, offering a twist on the great British tradition including a moth-watering range of savoury and sweet options set in a neo-Georgian Grade II listed building, the old and the new coming together. The Coral Room is a symphony of elegance the décor and accents all set the mood for a luxurious afternoon tea experience.

We were greeted by the host with a flute of the finest sparkling wine and presented with the afternoon tea menu, I knew we were in for a treat, our choices were; Caprese sandwich focaccia bread, Bocconcini, sliced cherry tomato, micro basil leaves, olive oil and tomato jelly, marinated Cucumber White Bread with smoked salmon rillettes, Guinness bread wrapped around coronation chicken. The sweet offering was; Virgin colada mousse coconut sponge base, raspberry tart with delicious vanilla cream, white chocolate, pistachio, lemon daisy, blueberry and lavender éclair, orange and thyme macaron, bourbon vanilla scone and golden raisin scone with thick and rich clotted cream and Cloudberry jam, so quintessentially Britsh and tasty, the choices were flavoursome and a visual delight.

The cocktail choices offered on the Afternoon Tea menu were; Mimosa made with English sparkling wine, Champagne Cocktail a recipe of cognac, sugar cube, Angostura Bitters and champagne,  a superb French 75 15 Tanqueray, with lemon juice, sugar, champagne, my personal favourite a Pornstar Martini presented perfectly with Ketel One, passion fruit, vanilla liqueur, lemon juice, English sparkling wine and finally Negroni Sbagliato a delicious concoction of Campari, red vermouth and English sparkling wine, the cocktails are amazing a beautiful balance of fragrance, flavour beautiful to the eyes. The host gave us a second round of sandwiches and sweets, we wanted our family to experience all that  The Coral Room has on offer and judging by the smiles on their faces they were truly impressed!

The conclusion

The grills, Sirloin/Rib eye and fillet a classic grill experience. Lunch picks; Oak smoked salmon traditional accompaniments, blini, melted in the mouth. Oyster and Caviar for those who enjoy a most refined taste. Roasted stone bass, Pomme mousseline, foraged sea herbs, Champagne bearer Blanc, luxurious offering. The dinner, Celeriac Veloute, trompette mushroom, black truffle, pure luxury on a plate. Slow cooked rare breed pork belly, roast cauliflower puree cauliflower ceviche, sea herbs and lobster bisque couldn’t think of anywhere I would rather be. This is a small sample of what’s on offer, the menu is totally delicious!

My Quaglino’s experience

The invitation to dine at Quaglino’s was accepted without delay, I love eating out, so was excited to try the Saturday Q Brunch there is an option to add free flowing prosecco, how could I refuse the brunch that everyone was raving about. The Q Brunch has a diverse and tasty menu with lots to choose from, flavour, taste and the most beautiful presentation. Set in luxurious surroundings Quaglinos, is easy to find, a short walk from Green Park station in the heart of St James’s. Quaglino’s is the perfect business lunch or dinner restaurant, whether you are out with friends and family or to impress on a date night, bliss.

Upon arrival when walking into the restaurant I was mesmerised by the sheer luxury and opulence of the décor. The grandeur of the stairs as you walk down into the main restaurant was simply breath taking. The decor is reminiscent of the Great Gatsby, providing a beautiful decadent, sumptuous and yet fun atmosphere. The host was warm and inviting and started by pouring the unlimited Prosecco, what a great start to the ultimate brunch experience.

The host assisted us with the choices on the Q Brunch menu and explained them all in detail. Our choices were; Quinoa, broccoli, orange and pomegranate salad, pine nuts, coriander, tahini and lemon dressing beauty on a plate and so delicious. Buttermilk pancakes, vanilla crème fraiche, berries, streaky bacon, and maple syrup, heavenly. Mains; Half native lobster thermidor, pomme frites and garden salad, total luxury. Wild mushroom and autumn truffle risotto, pickled walnut, aged parmesan and fine herbs, a wonderful dish for a vegetarian palette. Our taste buds were taken on a journey to food heaven.

The prosecco was definitely free flowing, I lost count after the third glass! Pure indulgence! The hostess circulated the menu one last time for us to decide on the dessert choices who could resist; Treacle tart clotted cream and fresh raspberries and white chocolate and lemon brulée, mind blowing, so goodbye diet, it was literally abandoned, but I was okay with that, the Q Brunch was worth every bite.

Conclusion

Quaglino’s should be definitely on the list for a glamorous brunch, lunch or dinner reservation. The menu is exciting, luxurious and full of flavour and texture that will simply send your taste buds yearning for more! The brunch menu was delicious the free flowing prosecco a great touch to make it an extra special experience. Dishes to suit vegetarians, meat and fish lovers. I honestly say every dish I sampled on the menu was delicious! I am extremely impressed by the price point, affordable and delicious in prime central London.

The venue offers a fantastic combination and benefits of a restaurant, bar and nightclub. The perfect place to enjoy dinner and then hit the dance floor with some of the world’s home grown and international DJ’s and musical guest roster.  The Opium family have hosted some of world-famous artists and DJs, such as David Guetta, French Montana, Black Eye Peas and many more! The club recently had a special appearance from the multi-platinum selling Nicki Minaj.

Opium London is expansive with glass separating the club area, covering 1,000 square meters with a capacity of 500 people, a modern venue an amazing futuristic light show, designed to make you move.  The three VIP boxes, located in the most privileged places, offer an exclusive experience for their most discerning guests.  The decor is sleek, chic and modern; Marble floors polished to perfection with inviting white leather booths. The captivating bright purple pyramid-shaped light show bouncing off the walls to provide the ultimate luxurious environment.

The restaurant is headed up by Portuguese chef Diogo Amaro, who has a wealth of experience working for Novikov and MNKY HSE and internationally in Dubai and Sardinia. Chef Diogo personally created every one of the dishes. Opium London is an upscale dining experience offering seafood, fresh sushi, and sashimi, along with a menu of modern Mediterranean and Pan-Asian cuisine. The meat and produce are sourced from top international suppliers.  Signature dishes including Mediterranean inspired dishes such as Grilled Scottish Lobster, Chicken and Foie Gras Cannelloni, Spanish Iberico Ham and the most delicious trio of Wagyu Beef Sliders with three different dipping sauces with the highest-grade beef sources from Australia. Opium London offers animal-friendly options mouth watering truffle and mushroom risotto.

My Opium London experience

Opium London is set within the heart of buzzing and vibrant Soho on Rupert Street. On arrival I was greeted by the friendly door assistant, my coat was taken before being taken down to the restaurant space. I was immediately hit by the vibe, the music was electric. The lounge bar area is fully stacked and raised and you step down into the dining section, the stairs create the perfect magnetic walk into the restaurant. The restaurant space is adorned with reflective black marble floors, with hexagon detail. Purple and pink hexagon lights and large screens project captivating shapes in time with the music. The velvet blue chairs add to the luxurious feel and corner booth chairs create an intimacy to the dining experience.

The host seated me on a comfortable corner seat. I was able to see all around the restaurant, it was a Friday night so on a raised platform a DJ played a great selection of tunes, perfectly setting the mood. Glancing around the restaurant it was a mixed crowd, with date nights and a ladies birthday celebration on the long table next to me. I joined in whilst they all song Happy Birthday, I love a celebratory moment. Ice buckets strategically placed around the restaurant, for the guests who want their drinks on ice.

The host assisted me with the choices on the menu and explained them all in detail. I was spoilt for choice; starters the famous Iberian ham croquettes so tasty, crispy fried calamari with lime mayo, perfectly seasoned, chicken and Foie gras cannelloni wonderful flavour, tomato vegetable spring rolls just what I needed. I tried the rib-eye steak just perfect. My sides were grilled tenderstem broccoli spinach, part of my five a day!

Opium London offers an amazing menu of cocktails, doing their part for sustainability I was provided with sustainable straws. My cocktail choices were; Tropical plus blend of crème d’apricot, mango purée, apricot jam, lime and pineapple, so fresh and fruity. The Temptress Liqueur de Lychee crème de violet limejuice, grenadine syrup and Prosecco – tasty.  Ebony confection, Bacardi anejo cuatro rum, crème de figure, Mozart black cinnamon syrup and chocolate bitters – dark and mysterious.  Each cocktail took me on an exciting sensory journey.

Can you imagine my excitement when I realised there was dessert! Not just any dessert! A Vegan one. Heaven on a plate. After such indulgence I had the pleasure of being introduced to the man of the hour, Chef Diogo Amaro, a legend, I congratulated him for such a wonderful food experience.

The night would not be complete without a glass of their finest ‘Champagne.’ Ready to work off the food I hit the dance floor, the club is even more dynamic purple and pink lights in the shapes of hexagons, like you are dancing in amethyst luxurious jewel box. The DJ’s selection of music is fun, vibrant and current. The club has a number of VIP boxes for the high profile guests and celebrities to offer total exclusivity; section ropes and the all-important large ice buckets, to ensure the discerning guests are left feeling like VIP’s.

The cocktail experience

The mixologist is dynamic and on trend ‘Pitch of Earth’ is a wait for it! A vegan-friendly cocktail that even gives back, to who you may ask? Charity! Gone is the guilt trip for drinking too much, it’s for charity! But as always drink sensibly!! Made with Elephant Gin, an altruistic gin brand that donates 15% of its profits to The African Elephant Foundation, the cocktail has a super food element with ingredients such as fresh ginger, beetroot and limejuice with delicious maraschino and green apple liqueur. Opium London is synonymous with fun; El Patron is a twist on the most iconic cocktail – The Margarita. To be taken on a Spanish journey Sangaree Fusion version of a taste of classic Spain-Sangria.

Conclusion

Opium London is the perfect one stop night out to experience the best in Modern Mediterranean and Pan-Asian upscale cuisine. The restaurant, bar lounge and club is a great choice for a night out with friends, date night and party slickers.  Great food, impeccable service and impressive cocktails. London is indeed the place to experience a vast variety of culturally diverse restaurants. I am always on the hunt for a refined Japanese dining experience. In my life I have had the pleasure of dining in some of the most amazing Asian restaurants in London. The invitation to Sake no Hana was accepted without delay. Sake no Hana is on the corner of the world famous St James street Mayfair, surrounded by some of the most prestigious venues in central London.

Sake no Hana has managed to perfectly balance tradition with a symphony of dishes and authenticity, bursting with flavour. Sake no Hana offers modern authentic dining in Mayfair providing a selection of charcoal grill, toban and Kamameshi dishes, while sushi and sashimi are prepared to order at the sushi bar. The interior designer is the world renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the restaurant design has taken its inspiration from nature, bamboo and cypress wood, which gives a feel of a futuristic forest, minimalist in design.

My Sake no Hana Koinobori experience

I received an invite mid-week to experience the Japanese Golden Week Koinobori at Sake no Hana. I have experience of the Japanese food and culture so was keen and is a part of the Koinobori celebration. Set in a prime location St James, Mayfair it was easy to find a short walk from Green Park Station. Sake no Hana is perfect whether you are out on a business lunch or dinner, celebrating with friends and family to experience modern authentic Japanese cuisine.

Upon arrival we were booked in and guided to escalators to the main restaurant, this added to the anticipation. The restaurant is authentic bamboo wood beams and lantern style lighting, with a very traditional atmosphere. Windows and lighting perfectly positioned to create space, but yet managed to still keep a warm atmosphere. We walked past a sushi station where chefs were preparing dishes in front of guests. The host was welcoming and offered us the Koinobori set menu and assisted me with the choices and explained them all in detail. The menu offered; Soup Sansai Shiriu – a small cup of white miso soup with Japanese foraging vegetables, delicate and opened our appetite amazing! Sadly I am allergic to raw fish, but was given the option to try a vegetable and fruit version of sushi Urokozushi, mango rice, crab, rice and soya sauce it was tasty and delicate with detail, which looked so beautiful. The main was of the following Haru Yasi Miso Salmon, asparagus, rape seeds, wild garlic sauce, Kisetu Yasai Tempura, chef’s choice of vegetable and our choice-Yakitori Corn Chicken, grilled miso chicken, shishito pepper, yuzu chilli sauce, very tasty. The Koinobori menu was minimalist, tasty and beautifully presented, which was in keeping of the theme. Cocktail choice; Koinobori Martini, Belvedere Vodka Sakura tea cordial, lime juice, foamer, koi carp rice paper, delicious!

After such a tasty meal I was keen to try out the selection of Wagashi desserts! I didn’t need any persuasion …dorayaki, inchigo daifuku, mitarashi dango, matcha roll kace, Heaven on a plate!

Conclusion

Sake no Hana Koinobori menu is sophisticated, authentic Japanese cuisine. The menu was modern, light and gave me and opportunity to experience something extra special. The staff are professional and welcoming and the atmosphere relaxing and true to the Japanese respectful culture. The wider Sake no Hana menu will suit many different tastes. The menu has exciting, traditional and sharing plate style options and there are also dishes to suit vegetarians, meat and fish lovers. Sake no Hana is a perfect place to celebrate an engagement, graduation or business in a wonderful welcoming traditional setting.

Sake no Hana has a restaurant in beautiful Bali for the seasoned travellers. In London they offer group dining, wine master classes, Umai Sushi Saturday’s which is a seven course authentic Japanese lunch, accompanied by a choice of cocktails and half a bottle of Louis Roederer Premier NV Champagne.
