Sushi dreams came true at Bamboo-Mat Stratford in East Village! Nestled near Westfield, this place is a slice of Peru in London, designed by the genius Sebastian Salas. From their vibrant terrace to the mesmerizing open kitchen, every corner spells perfection!

The food journey highlights started with Gambas Frites and Cancha who stole the show! This was followed by a spinach salad that had us saying “More, please!” Then came the main course – Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Anticucho, bursting with flavours that hit all the right spots!

But oh, the sushi! Crispy Philadelphia Maki and Mango Maki made our taste buds dance with joy! And let’s not forget their Chicha Morada and Mojito – pure refreshment magic!

I was invited to review the Cellar at Kindred, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight!

At Kindred, you can indulge in four fabulous offerings: coworking spaces, a vibrant cultural program, the Cellar at Kindred (their exquisite restaurant and bar), and their exclusive private hire options, all designed with socializing and gathering in mind.

The menus at the Cellar reflect a commitment to generous, seasonal cooking that sparks conversation. Their chefs draw inspiration from afar, with dishes like pizzettes from the pizza oven and fragrant Power Bowls, all grounded in local produce. Highlights include meat from HG Walter, just up the road, and a brunch spread that is second to none, featuring Breakfast Muffins, Shakshuka, and more, served until 3 pm.

Dining from the all-day menu was an absolute treat. The food was delicious, and the hospitality was warm and friendly.

My Riviera Experience

I was transported to The French Riviera at St James’s luxury restaurant, ‘Riviera’, and they did not disappoint. The restaurant’s beautiful warm decor and ambiance reminded me of my time vacationing in the South of France. Riviera London is the perfect fine dining spot for a date night, a business meeting, or a gathering with family and friends. The DJ kept the energy alive with a collection of songs to suit the mood.

My journey began with a selection of Stuzzichini, including the delectable rice balls with pesto and a fiery hot salsa dip that awakened my taste buds. The Focaccia mozzarella & cipolla rossa, a garlic bread masterpiece topped with mozzarella and red onions, was a sublime start to my culinary adventure.

Next came the Antipasti, where I savored crispy calamari served with a flavourful caper mayo and succulent king prawns immersed in a spicy tomato sauce, accompanied by sourdough bread. Each bite was a symphony of flavours, and it was becoming abundantly clear that Valentina was more than just a restaurant; it was a culinary revelation.

Main Course Magic  

The mains were nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. The Pollo Milanese, a breaded chicken breast served with either spaghetti al pomodoro or a mixed salad, showcased the perfect balance of crunch and tenderness. Equally impressive was the Filetto di Branzino, a sea bass fillet prepared with garlic butter, lemon, and a white wine sauce, accompanied by a medley of perfectly roasted vegetables. Every bite was a testament to the skill and passion of Valentina’s chefs.

Sips of Elegance 

To complement my meal, I had the pleasure of exploring Valentina’s extensive wine selection. With over 50 regional Italian wines available for both retail and restaurant purchases, it was a wine lover’s paradise. Whether you prefer red, white, or something sparkling, Valentina has the perfect bottle to elevate your dining experience.

For those who prefer cocktails or aperitifs, Valentina offers a delightful range of options. I couldn’t resist indulging in an Aperol Spritz, a refreshing blend of Aperol, prosecco, and soda, as well as the Berry Forest non alcoholic cocktail, a delightful concoction of strawberry and passion fruit puree, lime juice, sugar syrup, and lemonade. These libations perfectly complemented the flavors of my meal.

A Sweet Ending

No culinary adventure is complete without a sweet ending, and Valentina did not disappoint. I had the pleasure of savoring a choice between two delectable desserts: the Desert Gelato, a heavenly combination of strawberry and cream, and the nostalgic Mum’s Apple Cake served with velvety vanilla ice cream. It was a sweet symphony that left me craving for more.

Entertainment and Special Events 

Valentina Bar & Kitchen goes above and beyond to create a holistic dining experience. I was delighted to discover that they regularly host live music events, allowing patrons to enjoy a sumptuous 3-course menu accompanied by soulful tunes. Additionally, their Pizza Tuesdays are a must-try, where you can savor delicious pizzas with unique toppings that cater to all tastes.
